How to post content to Tumblr with Aggmo

Once you’ve registered with Aggmo, you’ll be taken directly to your control panel. It’ll be a bit empty - so let’s get started with a mini tutorial…

1. Click on “Your feeds” at the top to open the feed manager.

2. Drop in the URL of your first feed and click Add (we’ll use the Aggmo twitter stream for this example):

3. You’ll return to the control panel with a new line for the new feed, while Aggmo gets that feed’s data. This can take up to a minute. When that’s complete, you’ll see a green number appear with the number of items found in the feed - click it to update your control panel.

4. You’ll now see the content items in your panel. Select items for posting with the tick and cross buttons. When you ‘tick’ content, it’ll appear in your output stack at the bottom of the page.

5. Now we have an item ready to publish, it’s time to connect Aggmo to Tumblr - click on “Connect” in the right hand side of the output stack.

6. You’ll be taken to Tumblr to confirm access for your account.

7. When granted access, the system will return to Aggmo. You can now set up your Tumblr connector (which tumblelog to post to, etc) by clicking on the Tumblr connector.

8. You’re ready to post. Click on the “Post all” button on the output stack to send everything to Tumblr, or send each item at a time by clicking the blue arrow in its box.

9. Aggmo will send your content directly to Tumblr and update you on progress…

That’s all - your content has been published to your Tumblelog!

The same process can be used for sending links to Twitter, but it’s slightly simpler as there are no connector options. Just select Twitter as your connector and grant access.

If you’d like an Aggmo account, drop your email address in our ask box.

Some sneak peaks of the next version

Cleaned up the internal interface and made it more user-friendly and (hopefully) visually appealing. Clean, simple and more intuitive was the aim.

Keep your eyes peeled for a new release soon.

Happy New Year!
We’re now using Aggmo to run our Who Is Banksy project - a change to how the content from feeds gets into Tumblr. Aggmo allows us to post content from the feeds we were already importing automatically into Tumblr, but in a more controlled way than by using the Tumblr import.
Aggmo allows us to pick and choose the items we want to post, before they reach Tumblr.
We can post when we want or send items to the queue to be “smoothed out” and not bomb our followers - we’re not at the mercy of feed sources or Tumblr’s importer.
We can use feeds that have a smaller percentage of Banksy content, knowing that we can pick out the Banksy items and drop the rest.
All of this means that Who Is Banksy should become even better for all of its followers.
Aggmo is available for testing - drop your email in the ask box and we’ll send you an account.

Version 1.1 is live

Last night we published v1.1 of Aggmo with some updated functionality:

  • Tumblr connector - so you can send your content straight to your tumblelog.
  • Registration system - drop your email address in our ask box for a test account.
  • Nice new home page and logo - some design tweaks.
  • Core functionality updates - stuff under the hood to make your experience better.

Feedback on this version can be shared on Get Satisfaction here.

We’ve set up a support forum on GetSatisfaction… You can also contact us through Twitter and our Tumblr ask box.

Connectors

Or - how your content gets back out onto the internet.

As of version 1.1 we have two types of connector available:

  • Tumblr - posts to any of your tumblelogs, to live, draft, queue, etc as required.
  • Twitter - creates tweets with the title of the feed item and a bit.ly link to the content.

We keep no names or passwords for your accounts, we only use Open Authentication (OAuth). The OAuth process means that you grant or deny access to your chosen connector account as required, and Aggmo stores only the access token - we keep no passwords.

We’re building more connectors - vote here for what you want, nudge us in the right direction.
